· Ciao Geneviéve, e benvenuta sulle pagine di RS! Seguiamo il tuo progetto con interesse sin dai suoi primi passi, raccontaci qualcosa di te: sei tedesca vero? Ma hai un nome indubbiamente francese…quali sono le tue origini, e dove vivi attualmente?

Ciao, hai perfettamente ragione, sono tedesca…bavarese per la precisione. E vivo in Baviera. Davvero mi chiedi del mio nome?...Non posso crederci…Le donne devono mantenere certi segreti!

· Il tuo é uno dei pochi progetti “industriali” al femminile della scena europea: ma “industrial” è il termine adeguato per riassumere lo spirito della tua proposta musicale? Io piuttosto lo chiamerei “retro-lounge-elettro cabaret”...

Come potrai immaginare, in qualche modo e da qualche parte devi pur iniziare. All’ inizio avevo un sacco di influenze “industriali”, ma ora ho creato una mia personale interpretazione del genere. Possiamo parlare più propriamente di un mix di stili, e se vuoi catalogare la musica di G.P., “retro-lounge-electro-cabaret” o magari “noise-chansonette” potrebbero funzionare alla perfezione.

· Mi piace la fusione tra il tuo suono elettronico duro e sperimentale ed il tuo look molto old-style, così sensuale ed anni ’60: qual é il tuo background culturale e musicale?

I miei interessi sono davvero a 360 gradi ed é difficile tracciare dei confini. Non ho mai trovato una definizione per il mio stile musicale. Inoltre non mi vedo come appartenente ad alcuna scena in particolare. Così potremmo dire: i miei ascoltatori non sapranno mai cosa aspettarsi da me! Ma sarò comunque sempre onesta e coerente.

· SOAP BUBBLE FACTORY. Amo questo titolo! Le bolle di sapone…forse una passione giovanile della piccola Geneviéve Pasquier?!

Non solo della Geneviéve bambina ah ah! Ma stiamo parlando di una persona con il cuore di pietra, che non sorride mentre le bolle svolazzano intorno a lei.

Volevo dare un’ immagine a quei piccoli mondi all’interno delle bolle, mondi che esistono nella vita reale di tutti i giorni. L’intero album tratta del genere umano, del consumismo, dello stile perfetto da raggiungere, e della totale perdita di valori. Ci stiamo dimenticando di pensare a chi o a che cosa siamo. Viviamo solamente in funzione della società, e non per noi stessi. Siamo fissati sulla nostra giornata perfetta, sul nostro lavoro ideale, sull’uomo o la donna ideali, sullo stile perfetto, e non sappiamo nemmeno più noi cosa vogliamo in realtà. Qual è il significato della nostra vita, e come dovremmo fare a viverla con un po’ di saggezza.

E’ un disco che si domanda per quale motivo noi stiamo al mondo. Un album che si pone delle domande, e che suggerisce alcuni spunti nuovi su cui riflettere. E che mostra i momenti della vita in cui ci si deve confrontare con i propri conflitti interiori.

Possiamo dire che la vita in fondo è come una bolla di sapone.

· Com’é un live show di GP? Ho visto alcune foto sul web, che devo ammettere hanno attratto la mia curiosità: canti e suoni anche il theremin di solito? Hai dei musicisti insieme a te on stage?

Cerco sempre di mantenere I miei concerti su linee piuttosto essenziali, niente effetti spettacolari che distrarrebbero dalla musica e dal suo principale protagonista. Per me la cosa che conta è che l’artista e la sua musica, compresi i live shows quindi, siano onesti. I miei lives si focalizzano sulla mia performance come cantante, accompagnata da Dan Courtman ai sounds elettronici e coadiuvata - a seconda dei casi - da una proiezione di video, da un po’ di bolle di sapone o semplicemente dallo spirito del locale (un teatro, una discoteca anni ’50…). Cerco sempre di sfruttare al meglio le caratteristiche proprie della location dove suono. Nel 2003 feci un concerto nella cantina di un club. Lo show venne trasmesso tramite due video-camere a 16 monitors che si trovavano nel club, al piano superiore. Un artista dipingeva nel frattempo un’immagine mutante alle mie spalle. Così lo show si trasformò in un evento davvero “metafisico”. Sui palchi più grandi ho con me un chitarrista oppure un altro musicista che mi supporta.

· Ultimamente la tua attività live é stata parecchio intensa, per caso stai anche pianificando una data italiana?

Si, ho suonato molto negli ultimi tempi, e di certo mi piacerebbe suonare anche in Italia. Ma sino ad oggi non ho avuto alcuna proposta…proponetemi qualcosa ed arrivo al volo! ;-)

· Ed ora parliamo dei tuoi programmi futuri: sono certo che ci sia in gestazione qualcosa di interessante…cosa possiamo attenderci dal successore di “Virgin Pulse”? Qualche nuova collaborazione?

Hai indovinato, qualcosa sta bollendo in pentola. Sto lavorando al disco nuovo. Sarà una piccola evoluzione rispetto ai lavori precedenti, un ritratto delle mie diverse sfaccettature, e suppongo delle diverse facce di ogni donna. Musicalmente cercherò diapprodare ad un suono più organico, in grado di supportare meglio le espressioni del mio cantato. Voglio miscelare meglio quelli che si sono rivelati i vari, distinti elementi di “Soap bubble factory”. Ma non voglio approfondire troppo i particolari al momento, è ancora troppo presto. Inoltre ho in ballo alcune collaborazioni e nuovo materiale destinato a compilations, anche se nulla di talmente certo da poter già citare dei nomi.

· Hi Geneviéve, and welcome on RS pages! We’ve been following your project since its first steps with a huge interest, tell us something more about you: you’re german, aren’t you? But you’ve got a very french name…which is your true origin, and where are you living at present?

Hallo, It´s absolutely right, I´m german…..special bavarian. And I also live in bavaria. Do you really ask me for my original name?….. I can´t believe it….

Girls have to keep some secrets!

· Yours is one of the few female “industrial” projects of the European scene: but is “industrial” the right term to express the mood of your music? I’d rather call it a sort of “retro-lounge-elettro cabaret” …! Could it fit?!

As you know somewhere and somehow you have to start. In the beginning were a lot of “industrial” influences but now I create my personal interpretations of music. Better a mix of styles, and if you want to label G.P. music, “retro-lounge-electro-cabaret” or “noise-chansonette” would describe it perfectly.

· I like the mixture between your tough experimental electronic sound and your old-style look, so sensual and very sixties-oriented: what’s your cultural and musical background?

My interests are really wide spreaded and it´s hard to draw borders

I never defined my music-style.

I also doesn´t see myself as a part of any scene.

So you can say: my listeners will never know what I will make next. But It will always be honest and pink ;-)

· SOAP BUBBLE FACTORY. I do love this title! Soap bubbles…Maybe a juvenile passion of the young Geneviéve Pasquier?!

Not even the young one, haha. But it must be a person with a heart of stone, that cannot smile while soap bubbles are flying around the face.

I wanted to give a look at the little worlds in the bubbles which burst in real life…..

The whole album deals with the theme of humans, consuming, perfect styles, the total loose of values. We are thinking too less about who or what we are. We only live for the society and not for our own. We are fixed on the perfect day, work, man, girl, style and don´t know what we really want. What the meaning of our life is, or what we should do wisely with it.It´s an album asking for what we´re existing. Asking questions and give some new ways to think about. And show the inner strife in life when you are confronted with them.

You can say that life is like a Soap bubble.

· How’s a GP live gig? I’ve seen some live pics on the web, and I must admit they drew my attention: do you use to sing and play a theremin as well on stage? And have you got some musicians supporting you?

I always try to keep my concerts a bit reduced to the basics, no oversized special effect show that deflects from the music and the main protagonist. For me it´s important that the artist and his music including his show are honest. In my shows the focus lies on my performance on the micro accompanied by Dan Courtman on the Electronics supported by a video, some soap bubbles or the spirit of the location (theater, 50´s disco…).

But I always try to use the special features of the locations. In 2003 I gave a concert in the cellar of the club we played. The show was transmitted via two cameras to 16 TV-Monitors upstairs. An artist painted a morphing picture on my back. So the show became very “metaphysical”.

On bigger stages I have a guitarist or one other protagonist as support of my music with me on stage.

· You’re having an intense live activity lately, are you planning an Italian date as well?

yes, I had serveral concerts last time, and of course I would like to play in Itanly, too. But till now there were no offers….

Give me a date and I´ll jump ;-)

· And now let’s talk about your upcoming projects: I’m sure there’s something interesting going on…what can we expect from the follower of “Virgin Pulses”? Any forthcoming new collaboration?

You are right. There is something cooking. I´m working on the new album. It will be a bit more grown up. A portrait of the facettes of myself and I guess of every woman. Musically I try to use more organic sounds to let the music support the expression of my vocals. Bringing together what has a separated character on “soap bubble factory”. But I don´t want to talk about details in the moment, It´s too early.

There are also some collaborations and compilation-Tracs planned. But nothing concrete for now to talk about names.
